Cody Rhodes to lose his title to top WWE star at SummerSlam if one thing happened, suggests ex-host

Cody Rhodes has held the Undisputed WWE Championship since WrestleMania XL. However, an ex-WWE host suggested he could drop it to another top superstar at SummerSlam.

The superstar in question is none other than Randy Orton. On a recent episode of The Wrestling Matt podcast, ex-WWE host Matt Camp discussed the possibility of The Viper turning on The American Nightmare after helping him counter a Bloodline attack at Clash at the Castle. Camp suggested the 44-year-old must start his feud with his former Legacy teammate by destroying him.

The former RAW Talk host also recalled The Viper's storyline with Edge upon the latter's return to the company in 2020. He claimed that if Orton brought out his "worst meanest heelest version," he would not have any problems if he dethroned Rhodes at SummerSlam:

"Think about how Edge and Randy did it the night after Royal Rumble 2020. Edge threw him out of the Rumble, okay, all is fair, every man for himself. Randy ConChairTos him, Edge takes time out, he went after Beth, all that. It's gotta get that deep. I want the worst meanest heelest version of Randy Orton we can get to take on Cody and I'd have no problem with Randy beating Cody for the title at SummerSlam," he said. [From 09:41 to 10:12]

Matt Camp thinks Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes would be on the same team at WWE Money in the Bank

After coming to the aid of Cody Rhodes against The Bloodline at Clash at the Castle, Matt Camp predicted that Kevin Owens and Randy Orton would team up with The American Nightmare to square off against Solo Sikoa's Bloodline in a Six-Man Tag Team match at Money in the Bank.

The former RAW Talk host pointed out that there is no reason for the company to force another championship defense on Rhodes:

"By getting Cody and Randy close to each other now, I think it's, to me, easy to point to the idea of Cody, Randy, and KO against The Bloodline at Money in the Bank. It's only three weeks away. There's no reason to force another Cody title defense. This is not necessary. Save it," he said.

While Orton is already a 14-time world champion in the Stamford-based company, it would be interesting to see if The Viper could capture his 15th at SummerSlam by defeating the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

Do you think it would be a good idea to have Cody Rhodes drop the title to Randy Orton? Hit the discuss button and sound off.
