Cody Rhodes losing to 37-year-old top WWE Superstar will kill his credibility, says ex-employee

Cody Rhodes is arguably the current face of WWE. However, a former WWE employee claimed The American Nightmare losing to a 37-year-old top superstar would kill his credibility.

On November 2, the Undisputed WWE Champion will square off against the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther in a Crown Jewel Title match at the upcoming premium live event in Saudi Arabia. On the Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word podcast, former employee Tommy Carlucci, who spent over 30 years in the Stamford-based company, argued that the promotion cannot book The Ring General to defeat Rhodes in Riyadh.

Carlucci claimed Rhodes losing to the World Heavyweight Champion would kill his credibility and do massive harm to his character:

"God forbid if Gunther beat him one, two, three, that would kill his credibility. Unbelievable. I would jump, I would flip out, Coach. I'm serious. That could never ever happen. It will kill Cody where you just had him at WrestleMania pin The OTC and beat him clean and now you're gonna have Gunther, Mr. boring, beat Cody at Crown Jewel? No way!" [21:40 - 22:04]

WWE analyst predicted the outcome of Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther

On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts addressed the potential ending to Cody Rhodes' square-off against Gunther at Crown Jewel next month.

The RAW Talk host predicted that Kevin Owens would interfere to cost The American Nightmare the Crown Jewel Championship. The Prizefighter has been an enemy of Rhodes since attacking him in the parking lot following Bad Blood:

"So, for sure Gunther's winning that big giant title. Kevin Owens is going interfere, and then yeah, that leads us to KO vs. Cody at Survivor Series," he said.

Rhodes has invited Gunther to confront him this Friday on SmackDown. It would be interesting to see what will happen when The Ring General shows up on the blue brand.
