Cody Rhodes losing his Undisputed WWE Championship to returning legend is possible, says veteran, only to win it back at WrestleMania 41
A wrestling legend recently discussed the possibility of a major name returning soon and dethroning Cody Rhodes as the Undisputed WWE Champion. Bully Ray thinks that The Final Boss defeating The American Nightmare and eventually dropping the title back to him at WrestleMania 41 was a direction WWE could head into.
Despite his best efforts, The Rock could not stop Cody Rhodes from finishing his story by defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 Night Two. On the following episode of RAW, the Hollywood megastar confronted Rhodes and teased a singles showdown with him down the line.
While the former WWE Champion has been occupied with his acting projects right now, fans are waiting to see him return and face Rhodes.
Bully Ray expressed similar sentiments on a recent edition of the Busted Open podcast. The legend explained that The Rock needed to return with his heel persona. Ray added that he would like to see The Brahma Bull defeat Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title only to set up a rematch at WrestleMania 41, where he could drop the gold back to The American Nightmare.
"I believe [The] Rock needs to come back as a full-blown heel. I think most would agree with that (...) if The Rock wants to come back as this babyface, then who in the living hell is Cody's heel? You need a top-notch heel for Cody Rhodes. It can't be Randy [Orton] right now. If you bring back [The] Rock and Roman [Reigns] and you make them babyfaces and Randy is your top heel, it feels like an uphill battle (...) I would enjoy seeing The Rock defeat Cody Rhodes with the intention of The Rock dropping it back to Cody at 'Mania." (H/T: WrestlingInc)
Cody Rhodes will defend his title at SummerSlam 2024
While there's no sign of The Rock returning to WWE and challenging him anytime soon, Cody Rhodes still has plenty on his platter ahead of SummerSlam 2024. The American Nightmare is set to defend his gold against Solo Sikoa in a match that will likely headline The Biggest Party of the Summer.
The odds don't seem to be in Rhodes' favor, as Solo Sikoa would be accompanied by his Bloodline stablemates during the match. However, there have been rumors floating around about Roman Reigns potentially showing up during the contest and costing Sikoa the chance to win the gold. Whatever the case, there's no doubt Cody and Sikoa would put their best foot forward in front of the Cleveland crowd.
