Cody Rhodes losing his Undisputed WWE Title to returning star amid AEW rumors could happen, says analyst
Cody Rhodes has been a dominant champion despite The Bloodline being a thorn in his side. However, wrestling analyst Sam Roberts recently entertained the idea of Kevin Owens becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion.
The Prizefighter's future with the Stamford-based promotion was up in the air until SmackDown last week when Triple H finally offered some clarity. The Game agreed to Randy Orton's demands and booked him in a match against Kevin Owens at Crown Jewel.
Recent reports have suggested that Owens vs. Rhodes could take place at Survivor Series: WarGames.
Interestingly, the Canadian's WWE contract will expire at the end of this year and there have been some rumblings about AEW being interested in luring him away.
Speaking on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts discussed Kevin Owens potentially dethroning Cody Rhodes at some point while the inevitable Roman Reigns-The Rock-Cody Rhodes program still happens but for the People's Championship.
"What if Kevin Owens beats Cody Rhodes at some point? What if Kevin Owens is the WWE Champion? What if Cody then goes into a program with Randy Orton? What if Kevin Owens also beats Randy Orton and is still the champion? What if Cody still does his thing with Rock and Roman Reigns, but they make it more about the People's Championship?"
The WWE analyst thinks Sami Zayn reuniting with the OG Bloodline could trigger Kevin Owens, leading to a WrestleMania match between the two best friends.
"What if Sami Zayn rejoins The Bloodline at Survivor Series for that WarGames match that we may or may not get, and what if that leads to a WWE Championship match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania, is that my prediction? No. Could it happen? Yes." (From 39:45 - 41:10)

What's next for Cody Rhodes?
Whether Kevin Owens will emerge as Cody Rhodes' next challenge remains to be seen. But as of now, The American Nightmare is all set to face Gunther in a champion vs. champion showdown for the inaugural Crown Jewel Title on November 2.
The two men have never faced each other in a singles match before.
Last week on SmackDown, fans got to see a face-off between Rhodes and Gunther, which ended with the two men engaging in a brawl.
Ludwig Kaiser tried to make it a two-on-one situation, but Randy Orton made a timely save. The two teams will face each other in a tag team match on the go-home episode of SmackDown before Crown Jewel.
