Cody Rhodes makes a surprise appearance at current champion's non-WWE project
WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes recently attended the 39-year-old star's work outside of the Stamford-based promotion. Photos of the unexpected surprise have now surfaced on the internet.
The name in question is the current Intercontinental Champion, Sami Zayn. The Underdog from the Underground is set to defend his IC title against Bron Breakker at Money in the Bank 2024. Ahead of the PLE in Toronto, Canada, fans packed the Danforth Music Hall to witness the 39-year-old's "Sami Zayn & Friends Do Toronto" comedy show on July 4.
But the buzz reached a new level as the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion joined his former on-screen rival onstage. According to the pictures on social media, the crowd erupted to The American Nightmare's theme song, and the two champions had great fun during the comedy show. Cody Rhodes speaks on what it means to turn heel in WWE
The American Nightmare dethroned Roman Reigns to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship. During the 39-year-old's rivalry with The Bloodline, fans witnessed The Rock's heel version.
During an appearance on The Pivot Podcast, Rhodes explained his ideal "heel" persona in the wrestling industry. He also praised The Final Boss' work as a villain on TV and jokingly mentioned it's hard to look at Dwayne Johnson as a heel character because he has been in a Disney movie.
"I think the term has gotten more identified with The Rock-types, that aren't really heels. This is the Rock, he's in a Disney movie, and he's beloved. Watching him is a prime example, you have to really go to the lengths to upset people and do something, and in his case, he upset them greatly because he was taking away a (WrestleMania) spot," he said.
