Cody Rhodes' opening segment on SmackDown wasn't "super exciting" according to former WWE manager (Exclusive)

Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell recently spoke about Cody Rhodes opening SmackDown this week. The star kicked off the show with a promo segment.

During the promo, Rhodes spoke about how The Bloodline attacked Randy Orton last week. He then turned his attention towards Solo before he was interrupted by team A-Town Down Under. After a brief exchange, things got physical as Grayson Waller and Austin Theory attacked Cody Rhodes. Cody got a steel chair from boxing star Terence Crawford to even the odds. He flattened Waller and Theory with chair shots, setting up a tag team match for the main event.

This week on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Mantell spoke about the segment. He felt played their part well in the ring. The veteran pointed out that Waller and Theory still needed more time before they could be on the same level as the Undisputed WWE Champion. He felt it was a decent setup for the show and the main event later in the evening.

"I'm gonna give it an okay. It wasn't super exciting. He had a run-in with them last week too right. Waller and Austin, they just haven't gotten to the phase where they actually belong with Cody in that same ring. It was okay. Cody did his part, everybody did their part. It was a decent segment. Not overwhelming, but decent." [From 13:00 onwards]

With the help of Kevin Owens, Cody Rhodes managed to take down the duo of Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. However, The Blooldine struck once again when Solo Sikoa and his associate laid out Rhodes and Owens sending out a strong message before SummerSlam.
