Cody Rhodes praises recently departed WWE star
Cody Rhodes shared some kind words about a popular star who recently departed WWE. The American Nightmare is set for a face-to-face with Gunther tonight ahead of their Crown Jewel Championship match at the Premium Live Event on November 2.
Speaking with The Schmo on YouTube, Cody Rhodes discussed Samantha Irvin departing the company. Irvin announced she would be leaving the promotion ahead of this past Monday's edition of RAW, and Lilian Garcia will now be the ring announcer on the red brand.
During the interview, Rhodes praised Irvin and noted that she left the company on good terms. He added that Irvin was "going to kill it" in whatever she chooses to do next.
"She is top five, maybe top three. Samantha was just killing it. I know with her and WWE, they left on good terms. That's amazing because the door is open in case she ever wants to come back. I've never watched WrestleMania 40 back, but I can hear it still in terms of her very emotional announcement of (me) winning the WWE Championship. That's going to forever be linked to me. Hats off to Samantha. That's one of my homies and I hope to see her down the road. Whatever she does, if you heard her voice, she's going to kill it," said Rhodes. [H/T: Jeremy Lambert of Fightful]

WWE legend says Cody Rhodes owes his success to his father
Jerry "The King" Lawler recently discussed Cody Rhodes' success in the company and noted that he owes a lot of it to his father, the legendary Dusty Rhodes.
Speaking with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter in an exclusive interview, Lawler admitted that he did not envision Cody Rhodes becoming a major champion in the company. The veteran stated that Rhodes can thank his father for his success in the business.
"He owes all of it, where he is today, to his dad," Lawler said. "They used that big time in the marketing and it worked out perfect. Who can say that Dusty wasn't one of the greatest? Especially what he did in marketing. He was the best at that. Oh gosh, I don't even know how to put it, but it put him [Cody Rhodes] in a place where I did not think he would be as the World Champion." [8:12 – 9:03]
