Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns will fight major WWE RAW star in first-time-ever matches, says veteran
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns have shared the ring with several top WWE Superstars. Meanwhile, a wrestling veteran has claimed they would eventually lock horns with a top RAW star in singles matches for the first time in their respective careers.
The superstar in question is Gunther. The Ring General has been one of the most dominant wrestlers in the Stamford-based company since his arrival on the main roster two years ago. After a historic Intercontinental Championship reign, the 37-year-old won the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2024. He recently defeated Randy Orton at Bash in Berlin to retain his title.
While addressing Gunther's win over The Viper on the Straight Talk with The Boss podcast, wrestling veterans Greg Gagne and Magnum T.A. pointed out that it has elevated the Imperium leader and has given him more credibility. Meanwhile, Magnum T.A. predicted that the World Heavyweight Champion would eventually share the ring with Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
Despite facing several former WWE World Champions over the past two years, the Austrian star has never faced the Original Tribal Chief or The American Nightmare in singles competition.
"You've got Cody [vs.] Gunther down the road. You've got Roman Reigns [vs.] Gunther down the road. I mean, you got so many ways they can go. But again, it [his win over Orton] took him up to that truly, you know, main event World Heavyweight Champion player to where he's on a complete par with what Cody's doing with the Undisputed Title," he said. Sami Zayn challenged Gunther on WWE RAW
While Magnum T.A. thinks Gunther will eventually square off against Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn could be The Ring General's next challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The 40-year-old confronted the reigning champion last Monday on RAW to challenge him for the title. Although The Ring General declined Zayn's challenge, the latter reminded Gunther about the result of their previous encounter.
Notably, the erstwhile Honorary Uce of The Bloodline ended the Imperium leader's 666-day reign as IC Champion at WrestleMania XL. Zayn also told Gunther that he would not stop chasing the World Heavyweight Title.
It will be interesting to see if Gunther accepts Zayn's challenge on WWE RAW in the coming weeks.
