Cody Rhodes says WWE star is like a modern version of The Undertaker
Cody Rhodes was an up-and-coming member of the WWE roster when The Undertaker was still a full-time star in the late 2000s. The American Nightmare believes Randy Orton is a modern-day version of The Deadman due to the respect he commands backstage.
Orton debuted on WWE's main roster in 2002 after two years in the Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) developmental system. The 44-year-old is now a 14-time World Champion and one of the most respected wrestlers in the locker room.
Rhodes spoke to Orton on the latest episode of his What Do You Wanna Talk About? show. The Undisputed WWE Champion said he recently told his long-time friend's wife Kim about the similarities between Orton now and The Undertaker in the 2000s:
"It was you versus Gunther, and I remember telling her, I was like, 'I don't know if he'd like to hear this,' but that was the way I felt about Undertaker in like 2007 and '08, where it was like, gosh, like watching this Jedi Master do stuff. You take it for granted. You don't know how long you have," Rhodes stated. [From 13:26 – 13:50]
In the same episode, Orton told Rhodes which WWE star he would like to face in a possible retirement match.
Cody Rhodes praises Randy Orton's professionalism
It is well known that Randy Orton had attitude problems outside the ring during his first few years in WWE.
Cody Rhodes believes his former Legacy stablemate has matured and become a go-to person for other wrestlers to learn from:
"I think now looking at where you're at and how you're handling being the locker-room leader, handling being the most mature man in the room, handling being the person you would go to go, 'Hey, what is this?'" [13:02 – 13:19]
Later in the episode, Orton disclosed details about a recent conversation he had with John Cena about potentially facing his legendary rival in 2025.
