Cody Rhodes shares potential spoiler for WWE future ahead of SmackDown
Cody Rhodes is the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion and it seems that his future may not be tied to SmackDown. Rhodes has been on the blue brand since WrestleMania XL when he dethroned Roman Reigns and became the new face of the company.
Interestingly, Rhodes is one of the stars who have been rumored to be heading to RAW following the red brand's switch to Netflix in January, and ahead of tonight's edition of SmackDown, he has shared an update.
Rhodes took to his Instagram story to share an issue, featuring himself, promoting RAW's premiere on the global streaming platform on January 6, 2025. This could hint at a number of things ahead of next year, including him potentially losing his title to free him up for a move over to the red brand.
It has been reported that Rhodes and Roman Reigns could be making several appearances on RAW following the move, but to advertise Rhodes on one of the main posters for the move could arguably be considered false advertising if he didn't make regular appearances.
Netflix is a major move for WWE and a deal worth a whopping $5 billion so both companies are hoping it's a huge success. The global streaming platform has reportedly asked for several stars to be on the red brand that currently perform on SmackDown which has led to rumors that another Draft could be coming soon.
Could Cody Rhodes move to WWE RAW in January?
As already noted, it's not too far-fetched for Rhodes to be making a move back to his former brand.
WWE could even keep the title on Cody and decide to switch the World Champions so either Gunther or Damian Priest would go to SmackDown in his place.
There are options to make this work, but at present Cody Rhodes should be focused on Kevin Owens and whether he will be facing him with his title on the line at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30.
