Cody Rhodes' shocking retirement statement means WWE may have a big plan for him, says Hall of Famer; new role (Exclusive)
Cody Rhodes' recent retirement statement shocked many fans. However, a Hall of Famer has commented on it.
Earlier this week, Cody Rhodes said he wanted to retire by age 45. Given that is only six years later, the star will be winding up his time with the company in the next few years. No one was ready for the idea of Rhodes stepping away, but NWA Hall of Famer Bill Apter had something to say.
Sportskeeda's own Bill Apter said that it was smart for Cody Rhodes to step away from the ring while he was still young in a business where so many other stars keep wrestling until later. He said that Rhodes was a family man and that he was sure that WWE had plans for him after his retirement, where he could take on an administrative role in the company.
"He's very smart. Some of these wrestlers take too long, and they are away from their families too much. Their bodies become battered, and they are just not the human beings that they could be if they stop at a young age, like 45. Cody is a family man and he is also very, very bright. I'm sure WWE will take advantage of him in some sort of administrative role as well. So yeah, I see nothing wrong with him retiring at 45 years of age," Apter said.
Fans will have to wait and see if Rhodes does become a backstage figure after retiring.
