Cody Rhodes shows brutal scars after win over Gunther at WWE Crown Jewel
Cody Rhodes and Gunther stole the show at WWE Crown Jewel when the two collided to become the inaugural Crown Jewel Champion. Today, The American Nightmare showed his brutal scars after he clashed with The Ring General.
Last month, it was announced that both World Champions in the men's and women's divisions would collide in a contest to become the new inaugural Crown Jewel Champion in Saudi Arabia. Liv Morgan faced Nia Jax, and Cody Rhodes went head-to-head with Gunther to crown new champions for the event.
While Liv Morgan won the women's title, Cody Rhodes lifted the men's crown. Today, the Undisputed WWE Champion showed off his brutal battle scars after his bout against the World Heavyweight Champion. Rhodes uploaded a story on his Instagram and simply wrote "Chops." Later, Rhodes and Morgan received special rings to commemorate their wins, as the title belts would not leave Saudi Arabia and would be displayed at WWE Experience in Riyadh.
Cody Rhodes and Gunther will reportedly defend their WWE titles at Saturday Night's Main Event
Earlier this year, WWE announced the return of Saturday Night's Main Event, which was discontinued under the old regime over a decade ago. This will be the iconic event's return and the first under Triple H's creative leadership.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cody Rhodes and Gunther will defend their respective titles at the event, regardless of who walked out of Saudi Arabia as the inaugural Crown Jewel Champion.
The American Nightmare started a feud with Kevin Owens on Friday Night SmackDown after The Prizefighter attacked Cody Rhodes backstage following Bad Blood in Atlanta.
Meanwhile, several notable names want to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. A number one contender's Fatal-Four-Way was also announced for Monday's RAW after Crown Jewel 2024.
Seth Rollins, Sheamus, Dominik Mysterio, and Damian Priest will battle each other to be next in line for a shot at The Ring General's World Heavyweight Championship, possibly at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14, 2024.
