Cody Rhodes’ sister reacts after Kevin Owens turns heel on Undisputed WWE Champion
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns teamed up at WWE Bad Blood 2024 to take on The Bloodline. The duo defeated Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu with the help of a returning Jimmy Uso. The Atlanta event ended with The Rock's comeback, but that wasn't all. Kevin Owens backstabbed The American Nightmare and attacked him in the parking lot after the show went off the air.
WWE officials were not happy with The Prizefighter’s behavior. KO was fined and suspended for assaulting Rhodes. On the latest episode of SmackDown, Owens entered the ring despite his suspension to address his part of the story. But before he could explain his actions, his mic was cut.
He then grabbed Corey Graves' microphone set and claimed that he didn't turn his back on Rhodes. KO felt The American Nightmare was the one who backstabbed him. The Prizefighter's claim enraged Rhodes, and the latter came charging down the ramp to settle scores. However, SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis and security blocked his way.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Kevin Owens was wearing Cody Rhodes' father's t-shirt during the segment. On X/Twitter, Dusty Rhodes' daughter and The American Nightmare's sister, Teil Rhodes, shared a picture of herself wearing the same shirt following the program. She seemed unhappy with KO and even labeled him a “traitor.”
“Not that old traitor KO wearing the same shirt as me yesterday 😐,” Teil Rhodes wrote.
Later on in the show, Kevin Owens launched an attack on his now-former tag team partner Randy Orton. This assault on The Viper could once again land The Prizefighter in trouble.
Jim Cornette feels Kevin Owens might leave WWE
According to reports, Kevin Owens’ current contract with the Triple H-led promotion will expire at the end of 2024 or in early 2025, with no updates about The Prizefighter signing a new deal. Owens' feud with Rhodes could be his final major program if he decides to depart from WWE.
On a recent edition of Jim Cornette's Drive-Thru, the veteran wrestling manager speculated that The Prizefighter might be leaving World Wrestling Entertainment. Cornette added that the Triple H-led creative team could be aware of KO's plans, and that is why he was booked to feud with The American Nightmare.
"I can't believe they went ahead and turned Kevin Owens on Cody Rhodes. This probably means they are pretty sure he is on the way out. I would think, 'Let's turn him and feed him to Cody before we lose him,’" said Cornette. [4:07 onwards]
It remains to be seen how the Rhodes-Owens saga will play out in the coming weeks. Will the Undisputed WWE Champion get his revenge on KO? Fans must stay tuned to find out.
