Cody Rhodes did something crucial for the WWE Crown Jewel title on SmackDown, notes wrestling veteran (Exclusive)

We are a few weeks away from the Crown Jewel 2024 Premium Live Event and Cody Rhodes delivered a promo on the latest episode of SmackDown that might have done wonders for his upcoming match, according to a wrestling veteran. That would be Bill Apter.

The American Nightmare will face Gunther to crown the inaugural Crown Jewel Champion at the upcoming spectacle in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Crown Jewel Championship is not expected to be featured on TV throughout the year, which evidently hurts how fans perceive the belt.

While Gunther vs. Rhodes is a great match on paper, the stakes are not as high as WWE might want fans to believe. However, Cody seemed to have shifted that feeling with his promo on SmackDown.

While reviewing the segment on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk podcast, Bill Apter praised Cody Rhodes' promo skills and said that the latter successfully sold the WWE Crown Jewel Championship.

The 78-year-old veteran felt that ever since Cody stopped sounding like his legendary father, the late Dusty Rhodes, his work on the microphone has improved tremendously.

"In terms of Cody Rhodes being a salesman, yes, absolutely, he could sell me the Brooklyn Bridge. He has become an excellent promo guy, he is very convincing. I think in the beginning he was trying to be a lot like his daddy, with his promos and stuff and he has come over that and has come into his own sales approach and he does it really, really well," Bill Apter said.
