Cody Rhodes sued; might have to pay $900,000 in damages

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has been sued over the use of the term "American Nightmare" in merchandise and clothing. Wesley Eisold, of the band American Nightmare, wants a certain amount of money as damages.

Rhodes has been using the term "American Nightmare" for quite some time now. He had apparently gotten into an agreement with Wesley Eisold over the use of the term but the latter believes that the same was breached.

As per Eisold, Cody Rhodes "blatantly" violated the agreement by putting out merch for sale with the term "American Nightmare," and not branding it with his name or likeness. Eisold further said that this caused confusion among his fans.

Eisold reportedly wants $900,000 in damages.

“Eisold’s fans frequently buy the Runnels clothes by accident, Runnels’ fans regularly buy the Eisold clothes by mistake, and fans of both inadvertently make and purchase apparel that mix references to both the band and to Runnels,” a lawsuit filed by Eisold said. [H/T - Boston Herald]

Cody Rhodes doesn't have much time left and needs to respond quickly

Rhodes has yet to respond to Eisold's lawsuit filed against him. He has until November 15 to submit a response to the lawsuit. Eisold has also asked a federal judge that he should be paid $900,000 for the damages caused by the agreement breach.

Cody is currently the top star on WWE's main roster. He put down Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania XL to become the Undisputed WWE Champion. He has managed to keep the coveted belt on his shoulder for almost eight months at this point and has defeated some of the best wrestlers that WWE has to offer. He has also consistently been one of WWE's top merch sellers for months on end now.
