Cody Rhodes takes a subtle shot at Gunther following face-off on RAW

WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes appeared on this week’s episode of RAW. The Undisputed WWE Champion was welcomed to the show by the World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther. However, as both champions spoke ahead of their match at Crown Jewel, they started taking digs at each other. Moreover, The American Nightmare fired a subtle shot at The King General even after the segment ended.

The exchange was started by Gunther, who said that while he respected Rhodes, the latter liked to be “everyone’s darling.” He also highlighted that because of this, Kevin Owens has turned on him since he knows that everyone’s friend isn’t anybody’s real friend. In response, Rhodes talked about how The Imperium leader breaks under pressure when his opponents survive his entire arsenal and mentioned his WrestleMania XL loss.

Cody Rhodes also pointed out how much of a resilient wrestler he was. He even said he had defeated Roman Reigns and slayed a beast, referencing Brock Lesnar. Ending his note, he said that Gunther may think he was swimming in deep water but his feet still touched the pool since he had yet to fight The American Nightmare.

Reminding him of this remark, The Undisputed Champion took to X, sharing an image from their promo and firing another subtle shot at his RAW counterpart.

“Get ready to swim in the deep end. #WWECrownJewel,” wrote Rhodes.

Notably, Gunther called Cody Rhodes a secondary champion during the segment. It will be interesting to see which of these WWE Champions wins to become the first-ever Crown Jewel Champion in Saudi Arabia.
