Cody Rhodes is uncomfortable with the idea of facing massive WWE legend, says analyst
Cody Rhodes has been a fighting champion since capturing the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40. However, WWE analyst Sam Roberts has claimed that the SmackDown Superstar is uncomfortable with the possibility of facing a legendary wrestler.
The legend in question is none other than Roman Reigns. The Original Tribal Chief and The American Nightmare exchanged victories at WrestleMania 39 and 40. Last Friday on SmackDown, General Manager Nick Aldis disclosed that he was considering booking a third match between the two stars following the return of the Original Tribal Chief at SummerSlam.
Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts claimed Rhodes seemed uncomfortable with the idea of locking horns with Reigns again.
"You saw his [Cody] face when Nick Aldis brought up Roman Reigns. He didn't look all that comfortable with it. He didn't look like this was a great idea for him. And it's not. And it shouldn't be perceived that way," he said. [15:10-15:20]
Ex-WWE host thinks Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns III will happen
While discussing Roman Reigns' return on the recent episode of The Wrestling Matt podcast, former WWE host Matt Camp predicted that the Original Tribal Chief and Cody Rhodes would square off in a third match.
Camp also claimed the WrestleMania rematch could happen on the premiere episode of Monday Night RAW on Netflix in January 2025.
"I don't know how long they wanna wait on Cody and Roman. Let me throw this out here: You know they wanna make a splash for Netflix; you know it, as they should. That first episode on Netflix is gonna be loaded up. Do we see Cody [vs.] Roman on that? Do we see Cody [vs.] Rock on that? I think it's absolutely in play. Absolutely in play. I think we're getting a massive match," he said.
Roman Reigns certainly has unfinished business with The American Nightmare. It will be interesting to see if they cross paths in the upcoming weeks on SmackDown.
