Cody Rhodes will face former champion at SummerSlam after major WWE booking decision, thinks veteran
Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes suffered defeat against The Bloodline at Money in the Bank. A wrestling veteran believes the match was a stepping stone to set up another clash between The American Nightmare and a top superstar at SummerSlam.
The superstar in question is Solo Sikoa. The self-proclaimed Tribal Chief picked up the victory for The Bloodline at Money in the Bank by pinning the Undisputed WWE Champion. As the 31-year-old has previously revealed his intention to go after Rhodes' title, wrestling veteran Matthew Rehwoldt (fka Aiden English) believes the company is setting up a match between Sikoa and The American Nightmare by having The Bloodline leader pin the champion.
On the Rebooked podcast, the current TNA color commentator pointed out that the square-off would probably happen at The Biggest Party of the Summer:
"It's a stepping stone match. This is a stepping stone to get to a Solo/Cody confrontation at some point, you know, probably SummerSlam because they're trying to really establish this Solo thing," he said. [52:14 - 52:27]
Could another WWE Superstar dethrone Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam?
While Solo Sikoa could be Cody Rhodes' next challenger after he pinned the Undisputed WWE Champion at Money in the Bank, many think another top superstar should be the one to fight The American Nightmare at SummerSlam.
On The Wrestling Matt podcast, former WWE host Matt Camp suggested that Rhodes square off against Randy Orton at SummerSlam. He claimed The Viper should dethrone the 39-year-old:
"I've said it and I'll say it again, I want the worst meanest heelest vile villainous Randy Orton we can get against Cody Rhodes. And I want him to beat Cody. And Cody can go back on the chase," he said.
Many fans believe Orton has already dropped some hints about possibly turning on his former The Legacy teammate. It would be interesting to see if The Viper and Rhodes would cross paths in the upcoming weeks.
