Cody Rhodes will fight a possible WWE decision to turn him heel for one major reason, says veterans

Cody Rhodes is the top babyface in WWE today. Meanwhile, two wrestling veterans believe The American Nightmare would probably push back on any suggestions by the Stamford-based promotion to turn him heel.

On the Keepin' It 100 podcast, Konnan and Disco Inferno discussed the possibility of the Undisputed WWE Champion turning heel and whether he would sense the fans turning on him. The two former WCW stars agreed that Rhodes would fight a potential change in his character.

Konnan claimed the 39-year-old would do so because he wants to be the "ultimate babyface" in the company.

"Yeah, he's gonna fight it. He wants to be an ultimate babyface," Konnan said.

Meanwhile, Inferno pointed out that Rhodes was among the top superstars in terms of merchandise sales, and the latter would not want to lose out on any royalty he received from merch sales.

"I'm just wondering if he wants, he doesn't want to give up that money. You know what I'm saying? He really doesn't. It's like, bro, you left and started another company. It's like, hey, come on, you come back here, we made you a top star, it's like you're gonna do business, right?" said Inferno [6:29 -6:46]

Cody Rhodes won't become the top babyface when Roman Reigns returns to WWE, says Konnan

On the same episode of Keepin' It 100, Konnan claimed Roman Reigns would be more over than Cody Rhodes when he returns to the Stamford-based company after his break. He also thinks The Tribal Chief would become the top babyface in WWE.

Nevertheless, the WCW legend denied that that would cause Rhodes to have real-life heat with Reigns, stating that the current champion would have to understand that there is nothing wrong with being a "strong number two."

"He's going to be over and I think he's gonna be more over than Cody. And Cody's gonna have to understand, I had my run, I'm still one of the top guys, there's nothing wrong with being number two, a strong number two or 1A, and you've gotta give the guy his props," he said.

Many fans and experts expect Roman Reigns to return at SummerSlam to confront his cousin, Solo Sikoa after the latter turned on him and took control of The Bloodline in his absence. It would be interesting to see if that does indeed happen.
