Cody Rhodes on WWE fans' conviction that he is a heel
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is arguably the biggest babyface since John Cena to stand as the poster boy for World Wrestling Entertainment. But there are a lot of his peers and a section of fans who believe underneath his 'good guy' persona there is a heel.
When repeatedly questioned recently about a possible heel turn in the future on Busted Open Radio, The American Nightmare decided to humor the notion.
Rhodes articulated how the younger demographic influences his priorities as a character. Since so many fans of the product happen to be children who look up to the ultimate babyface, he is reluctant to execute a heel run after how he has been presented for the last few years.
"A lot of people think, under it all, 'This guy's not a babyface, he's a heel,'" said Rhodes. "I think people think of the potential that could come from what if."
Cody Rhodes called it a rewarding experience being there at live events for the younger fans.
"In my mind, I don't know how they would react to it," said Rhodes. "You want to be their guy, and you can't just say, 'Hey, I'm their guy.' You have to actually be their guy."
WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker is one of the biggest supporters of a Cody Rhodes heel turn. But it appears Rhodes himself has his mind set on staying a babyface.
Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens made official for WWE Bash in Berlin
When WWE fans look back at Kevin Owens' career, The Bloodline will stand at the top of the list as his biggest adversary. This year was no different for The Prizefighter, as he took every opportunity he got to fend them off. And he got plenty of such opportunities thanks to the ongoing issues they have with The American Nightmare.
To reward the former WWE Universal Champion for everything he has done for Cody Rhodes in the last few months, the latter offered a title shot to Owens. Though at first, he rejected it, The Prizefighter accepted it after SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis provoked him by claiming Roman Reigns was in front of the line to challenge The American Nightmare.
Kevin Owens and Randy Orton had formed a tag team in early 2024, predominantly to take out The Bloodline, but it appears they have officially split as The Legend Killer has moved on to WWE RAW. The two of them are now in world title contests at Bash in Berlin on August 31, as Orton will challenge World Heavyweight Champion Gunther in Germany.
