WWE News: Colt Cabana believes WWE finally learned the value of the indies
Independent Wrestling legend, Colt Cabana, was on Eric Bischoff’s podcast Bischoff On Wrestling. They spoke about several things, mainly Cabana’s legendary career. He gave an interesting take on WWE’s changed perception of the indies. Cabana was in WWE developmental for two years and mentioned the taboo concerned with the indies in WWE.
Colt Cabana said that he was laughed at for coming up through independent wrestling.

He said that it was really frowned upon, and it was similar to the response he received when he started a podcast in 2010 (something that has since exploded in popularity). Cabana said that it has taken the WWE a long time to realise that many of their stars were independent stars before they came to the WWE.
According to him, WWE has just begun to realise that the indies are a valuable place and people actually do learn and become good wrestlers on there.
Cabana then proceeded to say that the side effect of that is that the WWE will, sometimes, grab a few guys before they are ready and put them in their system. He gave the example of Paul London in 2003 saying that he was a big guy on the indies and they just grabbed him.
Cabana concluded by saying that he believes that when a big name is plucked from the indies, someone else will come up and make a name for themselves.
