Controversial wrestling figure claims Kofi Kingston and former WWE Champions need to leave the company (Exclusive)

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo feels some stars like Kofi Kingston have overstayed their welcome in the WWE. His comments came after this week's episode of RAW.

Russo has had his fair share of controversy. While his writing coincided with WWE's Attitude Era, the writer could not replicate the same edge with WCW. The promotion went out of business while he was on the production team in 2001.

This week on Legion of RAW, Russo claimed that several stars, including former WWE Champions like Kofi Kingston, The Miz, and Sheamus, had been on TV for an extended period. He felt that the audience wasn't invested in them because they weren't top-tier stars anymore.

"There's too many people on this roster that have been on for too long. That's why it doesn't mean anything. We have Kofi and, what's his name, cameraman (Xavier Woods). They've been on this show forever. Then we go to Miz, Miz has been on this show forever. Then we go to Shemus at the end of the night. God, man, it's nothing against these guys, but man, after you've been on for so many years unless you're a super, super super star, it's really hard to make people care about you. It really is," Russo said.

During the same conversation, the veteran writer explained that these stars had been on TV too long.

"Looking at this show, definitely The Miz, definitely the New Day, definitely Sheamus. I would say on this show. Those guys, come on, man. It's time to move on." [From 13:15 onwards]

The former writer even added that they needed to leave and make way for newer stars to get the spotlight.
