Controversial wrestling personality calls WWE legend Macho Man a "psychopathic, jealous, lunatic" (Exclusive)

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about the real-life heat between "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan. The Hulkster and Savage were two of the biggest stars in the company in the late '80s and early '90s.

After a successful stint in WWE, Vince Russo had his fair share of controversies while working for WCW. He was part of a contentious storyline that saw Jeff Jarrett lying down on the mat, allowing Hogan to pin him at Bash at the Beach 2000. This allegedly led to Russo's falling out with The Hulkster.

On Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo, the former writer pointed out that although there was no social media three decades ago, fans always heard that Savage was very possessive about his then-wife, Miss Elizabeth. Russo detailed that there was a hint of reality in the storyline leading up to WrestleMania V, and hence fans were excited to witness the "Mega Powers Explode."

"You know bro, we didn't have social media back then. But you knew, you always somehow (...) you heard how Savage was always jealous in real life. There was reality. There was definitely a reality that this guy was a psychopathic, jealous, lunatic. There was [a] reality to that, you know." [From 3:22 onwards]

It is well documented that Savage had beef with Hogan. Macho Man even came out with an album back in the day to diss The Hulkster. However, their real-life rivalry did not affect their in-ring performances, and the WWE legends did business inside the squared circle as professionals.
