WWE News: Cris Cyborg wants to step into a WWE ring with Ronda Rousey
What’s the story?
As reported by BJPenn.com, Cris Cyborg posted a video on Twitter showing her training with WWE Tough Enough and Impact Wrestling star Gabi Castrovinci. They weren’t practising mixed martial arts, but rather pro wrestling moves.
She called out Ronda Rousey for a Tag Team match in the WWE in her Tweet.
In case you didn’t know...
In their MMA careers, Cyborg and Rousey are a combined 29-3. Cyborg has fought for 12 years and Rousey for 6. Though they have dominated the sport, they have never faced each other in any MMA promotion.
The heart of the matter...
Here’s Cyborg’s Tweet in question:
Rousey started her MMA career with 12 straight wins before suffering two recent losses. Many speculate that she will retire from the sport of MMA as her heart may just not be into it at all.

Cyborg probably realises that she won’t be able to ever face Rousey in the Octagon, so the next best thing is to challenge her in the squared circle. It is no secret that Rousey is a huge professional wrestling fan, and has aspirations to join the WWE if she hangs up her boots in the UFC.
What’s next?
For Rousey, she has a few acting roles coming up, including the remake of the Patrick Swayze movie Roadhouse. She hasn’t made any sort of commitment one way or another about her MMA career as of now.
Cyborg was recently reinstated to the UFC after her doping suspension was lifted. She has most recently made it public that she would like a shot at UFC Featherweight Champion Germaine de Randamie at UFC 214 in July, but that match has not been made official yet.
Author’s Take
Cyborg and Rousey are two of the most recognisable women in MMA, so it is a no-brainer that they would be a special attraction inside the ring for the WWE.
While it would be great to see both women be full-time competitors in the WWE, Cyborg probably has a lot of matches left in her in MMA; while Rousey has a blossoming acting career.
The reason Cyborg is training and making it public is because she knows there is money to be made with her and Rousey competing anywhere. If they can’t make an MMA fight work, you can’t blame Cyborg for trying to make a pro wrestling match happen instead.
