Current champion confirms WWE SmackDown appearance ahead of the show
One night removed from WWE's return to the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York, for Saturday Night's Main Event, SmackDown airs live from XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. The show will feature new WWE Tag Team Champions, DIY.
Johnny Gargano swerved the Motor City Machine Guns and the WWE Universe when he appeared to be at odds with his longtime tag team partner, Tommaso Ciampa. This gave DIY the advantage during their tag team title contest last week when they defeated Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin. Elsewhere on the card last week, the Street Profits were attacked backstage. They were originally slated to face the MCMG.
Taking to Instagram, Johnny Wrestling boasted about being the new champions. Last week marked DIY's second reign as the WWE Tag Team Champions and they will appear on the blue brand tonight.
"We stopped by @WWE Headquarters while we were in Connecticut.. and look who's on the Champions Wall! 😍," Johnny Gargano wrote.

How their potential challengers retaliate after the means DIY adopted to get to the top bears watching. The mystery attackers behind the Street Profits also create a certain degree of intrigue as the Tag Team Champions are naturally suspects.
What else can be expected on WWE SmackDown?
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens are set to headline Saturday Night's Main Event. It is not out of the question WWE books them to be part of the show in some form or fashion.
But more importantly, SmackDown will feature some high-stakes matches. The Women's United States Championship Tournament semi-finals will take place tonight. Chelsea Green vs. Bayley and Tiffany Stratton vs. Michin are the two bouts advertised. The winner of these contests will advance to the final, which will take place tomorrow.
Another interesting development from last week was when SmackDown's GM Nick Aldis informed Carmelo Hayes that he had someone special in mind for the former NXT Champion to face. Ahead of the blue brand's latest episode, WWE personality Sam Roberts wondered if it could mean the in-ring return of a former TNA World Champion who last wrestled for the Stamford-based promotion nearly 30 months ago.
