Current champions set for big appearance outside of WWE
WWE is keeping its forbidden door open as the new era moves forward. Officials have working relationships going with other promotions such as TNA and Pro Wrestling NOAH, but new details are being revealed on two top WWE Superstars making a big appearance in the near future.
The Judgment Day is headed to Over The Top Wrestling. It was announced at OTT's recent ScrapperMania VIII event in Dublin, Ireland, that hometown stars Finn Balor and JD McDonagh will be appearing at OTT's 10th Anniversary event on Saturday, October 26, from National Stadium in Dublin. OTT Champion Big Damo, OTT Women's Champion Session Moth Martina, and international star Robbie X have also been announced for the big event.
The Irish Young Gun and The Irish Ace could end up wrestling a match for OTT, but what they will be doing that day has not been confirmed as of now. Fightful Select adds that the appearance could be strictly for the live crowd and not the OTT stream due to WWE policies. However, it was noted that things may be different under the new regime running the Stamford-based promotion.
McDonagh returned to OTT in March 2022 for a loss to then-World Champion Mark Haskins at ScrapperMania VI. The dark match aired after the main event of the night and was for the live crowd only. Cody Rhodes recently told an amusing story about JD in OTT.
None of the talents working the recent OTT show were aware of the Judgment Day announcement. It was noted that they were just as surprised as fans were to see the vignette on Balor and McDonagh that aired during the show. There is a strong buzz surrounding OTT and its 10th Anniversary show due to The Judgment Day's involvement.
Tickets for the event went on sale last Friday morning, and by Sunday, there were less than 300 left. As of this writing on Monday afternoon, there is one remaining floor seat, one seat in a wheelchair section, and several tickets in the stalls general admission area.
Potential title change at WWE Bash in Berlin
Finn Balor and JD McDonagh won the WWE World Tag Team Championship from Awesome Truth in the RAW main event on June 24. The Judgment Day members have not defended the titles on TV since then.
There's been talk of having Finn and JD defend the titles against Jey Uso and Sami Zayn at the inaugural Bash in Berlin PLE. Sources recently indicated that there's talk of the babyfaces capturing the titles from the heels that night.
WWE still has not announced the first title defense for The Irish Captor and The Import Killer as of this writing, but the match could be confirmed as soon as tonight's RAW. Bash in Berlin is set to take place on Saturday, August 31, at the Uber Arena.
