Current WWE champion sends a warning to CM Punk following major announcement
CM Punk's return to WWE's third brand this week was followed by a major announcement as it was revealed that The Best in the World would be the guest referee for the upcoming NXT Championship match between Ethan Page and challenger Trick Williams. Following the announcement, the champion sent a stern warning message to the RAW Superstar.
Punk returned to NXT for the first time since shockingly showing up at NXT Deadline last December. The former AEW Champion had multiple segments on the show. He first shared the ring with Roxanne Perez and Guilia where the former took a shot at him by saying she should have been a fan of Drew McIntyre. Later on in the show, it was announced that The Best in the World would also be present on NXT a couple of weeks later as he will be the guest referee for the NXT Championship match between Ethan Page and Trick Williams on the show's debut on the CW network.
Following the announcement, Ethan Page took to X to send a warning to CM Punk, noting that the latter should pray that he is the best in the world at refereeing as well.
CM Punk will also be in action in two weeks at WWE Bad Blood
CM Punk stunned the wrestling world at Survivor Series last year as he returned to WWE after controversially leaving the company nearly a decade ago. However, he suffered an injury in his first match back at Royal Rumble and was sidelined for months.
The Best in the World continued to feature on WWE programming despite being injured. He has been embroiled in a feud with Drew McIntyre over the last several months and the rivalry could culminate at Bad Blood as the duo will face off inside the Hell in a Cell structure.
Currently, Punk and McIntyre are 1-1 in their rivalry. While The Scottish Warrior was able to come out on top at SummerSlam, the former AEW star got a win back at Bash in Berlin. The Bad Blood match between them will decide who will take home the bragging rights in this heated feud.
