Dakota Kai recalls Damage CTRL's WWE debut from SummerSlam 2022

During the 2022 SummerSlam Premium Live Event, Damage CTRL debuted on the main roster. On social media, Dakota Kai recalled the faction's first night.

Damage CTRL started with three members, including faction originals Kai and IYO SKY. Former faction leader Bayley recruited the two superstars into the group.

On Twitter/X, Kai shared a photo from Damage CTRL's first night on the main roster, reacting to the faction's second anniversary.

In 2023, Damage CTRL added Kairi Sane and Asuka to the group. However, leading up to WrestleMania XL, Bayley was booted out of the faction after winning the 2024 Women's Royal Rumble Match.

This led to Bayley challenging SKY for the WWE Women's Championship and eventually dethroning The Genius of the Sky.

Dakota Kai opened up about Bayley's leadership of Damage CTRL

Following IYO SKY and Damage CTRL's betrayal of Bayley, Dakota Kai momentarily sided with The Role Model. However, she eventually betrayed her to rejoin the faction.

Speaking in a past interview with 97.7 QLZ, Kai stated that the faction felt they could achieve a lot more without Bayley's leadership.

Kai said:

"So, I am grateful to Bayley, right? She allowed me to come back to the company; she has given both IYO and me a lot of opportunities. But I think at the end of the day, if you have a parent that is a little bit too controlling of the things you do, that is how we [Damage CTRL] felt. We felt like we could do a lot more without her leash on us."
