Damage CTRL members share potential tease ahead of Asuka's WWE return
Two members of Damage CTRL shared a potential tease on social media today ahead of Asuka's return to WWE television. The Empress of Tomorrow is currently out with a knee injury and has not competed in a match since Backlash in France earlier this year.
Kairi Sane and Asuka (The Kabuki Warriors) lost the Women's Tag Team Championship to Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair at Backlash in May. The Unholy Union has since captured the titles and is involved in a rivalry with Belair and Cargill on WWE SmackDown.
Asuka took her Instagram today to share an image with Kairi Sane and the former champions were wearing Kabuki Warriors t-shirts. The former Women's Tag Team Champions could potentially be teasing a separation from Damage CTRL by promoting themselves over the group and you can check the post below.
Asuka made a surprise appearance at a recent WWE Live Event in Osaka, Japan. The veteran was not using crutches at the event and got a great reaction from the crowd.
Dakota Kai comments on working with Asuka in WWE
Damage CTRL member Dakota Kai recently opened up about working with Asuka in WWE and noted that the 42-year-old is very intimidating.
In an interview with 97.7 QLZ earlier this year, Kai stated that she was glad to have the nine-time champion on her side. She noted that she has watched her stablemate for a long time and is grateful to be working with her.
"I’m glad to be on her [Asuka] side because she is a very intimidating person. She's obviously super cool. Asuka is someone I have watched for a long time too, even before she was with the company. She is still so damn good and it is crazy to be able to get a front row seat to witness how good she is. Like everyone in the group is amazing, IYO and Kairi I’ve known a long time too, but Asuka is like, gosh she is just so good. And I am super grateful every day that she is there and on my side," she said. [From 11:48 - 12:20]
Damage CTRL has not had a ton of success since being drafted to RAW earlier this year. It will be fascinating to see when Asuka returns to the ring down the line.
