Damian Priest defeats former champion for the sixth time in 2 months after SmackDown goes off the air
"El Campeon" Damian Priest has been on fire since April 2024. He has picked up some huge wins in perhaps the best three-month stretch of his singles career. He defeated a former champion for the sixth time in a row to go 7-7 in their series.
Tonight after SmackDown, he faced "Main Event" Jey Uso in their 14th match together overall. For the sixth time in two months, "El Campeon" defeated the former tag team champion to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
While only two matches have been televised (both won by Damian Priest), most of their bouts have been in live events or dark matches.
It seemed like a fun match. "Main Event" Jey Uso is a crowd favorite, and it must have been a treat for them to see him, especially considering how underwhelming the overall episode of SmackDown was this week.
Damian Priest has been praised for being a champion in the truest sense. Perhaps his expectations were much lower than those of Cody Rhodes because, according to many, he is already the more impressive of the two World Champions.
He promised Seth Rollins on this week's RAW to break their Gentleman's agreement and compete for the World Heavyweight Championship again after SummerSlam - assuming The Archer of Infamy retains his title.
