Damian Priest officially set for a blockbuster WWE title match

WWE Superstar Damian Priest lost his World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. It has been officially announced by WWE that next month he will get another opportunity to challenge Gunther for the title in a dark match on an episode of SmackDown.

The Archer of Infamy became the World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 40 after he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre. He successfully defended the title against the likes of Jey Uso, Drew McIntyre, and Seth Rollins.

Later, at The Biggest Party of The Summer, Damian Priest and Gunther locked horns for the World Heavyweight Title in Cleveland. In a shocking turn of events, Finn Balor betrayed the 41-year-old and cost him the championship.

As announced on the official WWE website, the World Heavyweight Championship will be defended by Gunther against Damian Priest. The two RAW superstars will go head-to-head in a dark match after Friday Night SmackDown in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center on October 25, 2024.

Top WWE star says a showdown with Damian Priest on main roster is going to be magic

The Archer of Infamy and Bronson Reed have had several encounters on NXT under Triple H's leadership. However, since their transition to the main roster, they have yet to officially feud or compete in a one-on-one match on RAW or SmackDown.

During an interview with Nims Azoor on The Overnight Crowd, The Colossal expressed his desire to face Damian Priest on WWE's main roster, highlighting their shared history in NXT. Bronson Reed also opened up about his aspiration to become a World Champion himself and predicted a magical match between him and The Archer of Infamy in the future.

"Well, if he looks at me the wrong way backstage, then maybe. I came up with him in NXT. I respect him a lot. We've got to wrestle there, and I was very proud getting to see him become the World Heavyweight Champion because it sort of validated our era of NXT—having someone from our era become champion. I mean the Seths and the Romans; they were before us. Now that he's done that, you obviously have Gunther do the same thing, and I want to be that as well. I'm sure you're going to see Priest vs. Bronson in WWE, and when you do, it's going to be magic," Reed said.
