Damian Priest responds to female WWE star's compliment regarding upcoming show

Damian Priest defied expectations to become one of WWE's most featured stars in recent months. The ball was placed in his court at WrestleMania XL and El CampeĆ³n ran with it and how. His colleague Natalya congratulated him on a special achievement.

His upcoming title defense against Gunther has many wondering if there is any way he can retain the belt, considering the investments Triple H and Co. have put in The Ring General in the last two years. But Priest was in a similar situation in Glasgow only a month ago, and he managed to put away home country hero, Drew McIntyre.

Natalya took to social media today to praise Damian Priest for his upcoming show on August 2, a night before The Biggest Party of the Summer.

As part of SummerSlam weekend, WWE will host Damian Priest Live at The Agora Cleveland on Friday, August 2 at noon ET. The event will feature the world premiere screening of WWE 24: Damian Priest in addition to a panel discussion with the man himself and fellow Judgment Day stablemates, Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio.

Responding to Natalya's comments, the World Heavyweight Champion, Damian Priest simply had two words:

"Proud of you!!!" Natalya wrote.
"Thank you!" Priest responded.

Last week on RAW, Gunther called The Archer of Infamy, "street trash," which signaled a change in character for the latter. Priest, 41, reminded The Ring General that it took him a long time to get where he is, and that is not going to change at The Biggest Event of the Summer.

What Gunther had to say about WWE Bash in Berlin

While Gunther is Austrian, The Ring General holds permanent residency in Germany and is extremely popular with the fans having worked for several years in the country. And although it would simply be speculation at this point, it could be quite fitting that WWE has an upcoming show in Berlin, just a few weeks after SummerSlam.

Coronating Gunther in a country where he is hugely popular is a moment that certainly must have crossed Triple H's mind. Whether that is the direction the creative head is taking with this angle bears watching. When asked about a possible world title match at Bash in Berlin on August 31, the Austrian stated that would ideally be the case.

"Berlin is a very important date for me. Especially for guys like myself. Years before building our careers, we would literally after the event we would cut the go-home promo for the live audience. We would always say, 'We're here and we work really hard to establish this sport in Germany again,' and now we're basically there. That's the main reason the show in Berlin is happening, because there is German speaking talent now. So I'm really excited for that. It's very important for me," he said.

Gunther also acknowledged that instead of established top players such as CM Punk, Seth Rollins, or Drew McIntyre, WWE opted for Damian Priest to be the champion at SummerSlam. He praised management for having faith in the new stars, adding that both of them would be household names moving forward.
