Damian Priest reveals WWE's major Money in the Bank briefcase rule

Damian Priest joined elite WWE Superstars who carried the Money in the Bank briefcase last year. The RAW Superstar even created a custom briefcase as we've seen from other winners in past years. Priest is now revealing a fascinating rule handed down by company officials to MITB winners.

The Archer of Infamy won the 2023 Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Two months later on RAW, JD McDongh gifted Priest his custom Señor Money in the Bank briefcase, which was later sold as replicas on WWE Shop. 2024 Women's MITB winner Tiffany Stratton also has a custom briefcase, a trend made popular in the past by Rob Van Dam, Edge, Damien Sandow, CM Punk, and Mr. Kennedy.

Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Priest revealed that he pitched the Señor MITB briefcase idea to WWE officials after a few failed cash-ins and they told him he'd be carrying it for some time. He recalled being embarrassed when carrying the standard briefcase through airports as it looked like a giant lunchbox and brought unwanted attention, and that's part of why he pitched the design change.

The Punishment revealed that he carried just a few small items in the briefcase while traveling because of the one rule WWE had. He was specifically asked not to carry "anything dirty" that would ruin the briefcase as others had done in the past.

"I wouldn’t put my dirty stuff in because that was a complaint that they told me from the get-go. They’re like, 'Hey, don’t be like previous holders that put their dirty stuff in here and just ruined these briefcases.' I said, 'I’m good, don’t worry.' I would just put stuff like, toiletries, or take my gear to a show in them, but yeah, I used it. I legitimately used it like a real briefcase. I didn’t have paperwork, so I used other stuff... my sunglasses, stuff like that," Damian Priest said. [H/T to Fightful]

Priest held the briefcase from July 1, 2023, until WrestleMania XL this past April. He cashed in on Drew McIntyre, right after McIntyre won the World Heavyweight Championship from Seth Rollins. The successful cash-in kicked off a 118-day reign that ended on August 3 when Priest was beaten by Gunther at SummerSlam.

Damian Priest continues rivalry ahead of WWE Bad Blood

Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley have continued their feud with their former stablemates in The Judgment Day. The Terror Twins defeated Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio in Mixed Tag Team action at Bash in Berlin on August 31.

Last week's post-PLE RAW saw Damian and Jey Uso defeat Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, who did not have their World Tag Team Championship on the line. There is now talk of Priest and Uso potentially winning the titles from Balor and McDonagh.

At one point it was rumored that Uso and Sami Zayn being the team to dethrone The Judgment Day, but Priest was put with the former Bloodline member instead. There were also rumors of Priest vs. Balor happening inside Hell in a Cell, but a new report indicates that other male RAW Superstars were chosen for the steel structure.
