Damian Priest's babyface run is doomed unless one condition is met, says WWE veteran (Exclusive)
At WWE SummerSlam, Damian Priest lost his World Heavyweight Championship to Gunther after Finn Balor betrayed him. Following the loss, Priest turned babyface for the first time since February 2022. However, wrestling veteran Vince Russo believes that the creative department was making a massive mistake in booking Damian at this point.
With Damian Priest being betrayed by Finn Balor, he has already been pitted against his former faction, The Judgment Day. Rhea Ripley also met with a similar fate at the premium live event, leading to her and Damian teaming up. As of now, the two have made it their mission to get revenge on their former allies.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo, former WWE writer Vince Russo explained that Damian Priest would not get over as a babyface unless he had a strong heel opponent, a condition that Finn Balor does not fulfill.
"Everybody has just accepted the way things are and I am the one who doesn't know what I am talking about. Bro it's the same thing... We have got Damian Priest and Finn Balor. You are trying to get Damian Priest over as a babyface but in order to get him over as a babyface the heel has to be over. Finn Balor is not over." [0:46 onwards]

The WWE veteran believes Damian Priest's feud with the Judgment Day is pointless
According to Vince Russo, Damian Priest is apparently too powerful for the current members of The Judgment Day to pose any threat to him.
Speaking on Legion of RAW, the veteran claimed that the Judgment Day does not have anyone credible in its ranks at this point. As such, the feud does nothing for The Archer of Infamy to get over.
"I have sung the praises of Damian Priest from day one. Have I not? How much better would that story have been if the other people in the Judgment Day were actually credible? Not that Damian Priest has to beat up Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh when the reality of the situation is he could take them at the same time. If it was formidable people, then they get Damian Priest over. Not with guys Priest should kill."
For now, fans will have to stay tuned to see what is next for Damian and Rhea Ripley in WWE.
