Damian Priest is a victim of a major mistake by WWE, according to former company employee (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo spoke about Damian Priest's face turn. The star lost the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam due to interference from Finn Balor.
Priest was irate with Balor for costing him the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. He walked down to the ring and called out Balor to answer for his actions. The Prince showed up on the titantron and mentioned that he would attack the former champ when he least expected it. He also detailed that Damian would go one-on-one with JD McDonagh later in the night.
This week on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Russo felt WWE did a disservice to Priest with the face turn. He pointed out that nobody in The Judgment Day could stand up to him and be a credible threat. Vince mentioned that the former World Champion could probably take down Balor, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh all in one go.
"I have sung the praises of Damian Priest from day one. Have I not? How much better would that story have been if the other people in the Judgment Day were actually credible? Not that Damian Priest has to beat up Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh when the reality of the situation is he could take them at the same time. If it was formidable people, then they get Damian Priest over. Not with guys Priest should kill." [From 28:18 onwards]
Priest got his retribution from the Judgment Day as he punished McDonagh during their matchup. However, the match was derailed as Balor and the rest of the new Judgment Day attacked the Archer of Infamy, bringing the match to a close via DQ.
Later Rhea Ripley came down to the ring and drove away the faction members, leaving her and Damian standing tall in the ring.
