"Dangerous" move during Bad Blood could have left former WWE champion seriously injured; Stevie Richards left extremely concerned
Former WWE star Stevie Richards was concerned that something could have gone wrong during a match at Bad Blood. Richards thought that the powerbomb-hurricanrana spot between Nia Jax and Bayley was dangerous.
Jax defended her WWE Women's Championship at Bad Blood against Bayley in a rematch from SummerSlam. One of the high spots of the match was Bayley trying to powerbomb Jax, who countered it into a modified hurricanrana.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Stevie Richards Show, the former Right To Censor member explained why the spot was dangerous. He thought that Bayley could have easily re-injured her surgically repaired knee with Jax on her shoulders.
"This is a setup for a powerbomb spot that Bayley is going to walk out. By the way, I feel like this is an extremely dangerous and the risk versus reward. Even with this, Bayley could blow her knee out. They could slip. ... Even taking those steps out, Nia is trying to support having her up here, but at the same time, it's all dead weight that you need to kind of pop your hips," Richards said. [0:14 - 0:53]
Luckily for both stars, they were able to execute the spot without any injuries. They also had the unfortunate distinction of following the Hell in a Cell match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. Nia Jax and Bayley did their best to put in a good performance, with the champion retaining her title.
Stevie Richards gives credit to Nia Jax and Bayley for not suffering any injuries from WWE Bad Blood spot
In the same episode of The Stevie Richards Show, the former WWE star credited Nia Jax and Bayley for not messing up a dangerous spot. Richards was impressed with Jax locking her legs around Bayley so that they could get the timing right. He also praised both stars for not rushing the spot.
"I will say Nia's feet are wrapped around Bayley's hips in the front. That's smart, she's locked in. She knows they're ready to go, so I have to give the girls credit that they took their time and didn't rush this particular thing. They made sure they were set," Richards said. [1:03 - 1:24]
Nia Jax is set to face Liv Morgan at Crown Jewel next month for the Women's Crown Jewel Championship. Jax also lost to Naomi on SmackDown in a non-title match, likely paving the way for a title shot in the future.
