DIY's Johnny Gargano addresses shocking turn on WWE SmackDown

The WWE Universe witnessed another shocking turn in less than a week as DIY's Johnny Gargano turned on the Motor City Machine Guns and won the WWE Tag Team Championship. Today, Johnny Wrestling addressed the win.

Over the past few weeks, Tommaso Ciampa was against the idea of Johnny Gargano letting his friendship with the Motor City Machine Guns come in the way of their success. However, it was all a ruse, and the duo defeated the champions to become two-time WWE Tag Team Champions.

Today, DIY's Johnny Gargano addressed the shocking heel turn on X (fkaTwitter) following their second reign as tag team champions on Friday Night SmackDown. Here's what he had to say:

"We told you.. Whatever it takes. 2x WWE Tag Team Champions.✌️ #DIY," Gargano wrote.

How did Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano get a title match on WWE SmackDown?

Earlier this month, it was announced that the Street Profits, Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford, would get a title match against the Motor City Machine Guns on Friday Night SmackDown after Survivor Series: WarGames in Canada.

However, the duo was laid out backstage ahead of their match, with no culprits in sight. In the segment, Nick Aldis was moments away from scrapping the planned title match until Johnny Gargano showed up.

Having faith in their friend, the Motor City Machine Guns agreed to give the planned title shot to DIY instead of the Street Profits. While Tommaso Ciampa initially found it unsettling, it was all part of a larger scheme by both parties.

During the match, the Machine Guns had the advantage in the early going as Ciampa and Gargano were unable to get on the same page and shoved each other while facing the champions.

In the end, Johnny Gargano shockingly turned heel and hit a low blow on Chris Sabin before DIY regrouped and hit their tag team finisher to capture their second tag team championship on the blue brand.
