Dominik Mysterio discusses Rey Mysterio retirement; Logan Paul brutally mocks legendary 16-time WWE champion
WWE Superstars Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio have been at odds since 2022. The Judgment Day member despises his "deadbeat dad." Off-screen, however, 'Dirty' Dom resisted the impulse to insult his father while discussing his retirement.
Dominik Mysterio was invited by Logan Paul to his IMPAULSIVE podcast. During their discussion, The Maverick made a stray comment and said that Rey Mysterio should retire from pro wrestling due to his old age.
In response, Dom said that his dad still has several years left while giving the example of legendary 16-time World Champion Ric Flair.
“Ric Flair did it till he was like 84. He had a stroke. He had two strokes in his last match. Like, he was taking a nap on the apron,” said Dom. [22:14 - 22:42]
While Dirty Dom quoted these feats with respect, Logan Paul and his co-host Mike Maljak laughed at it. Paul even mockingly mimicked the "woooo" call of The Nature Boy. However, the former US Champion noted that he was just kidding around.
Rey Mysterio is one of the most celebrated active legends in the pro wrestling world who is still inspiring new talent. The most recent example of this is Odyssey Jones, who made his WWE RAW debut this week. Interestingly, Dom’s win over his father was also one of the biggest reasons why he chose to betray Rhea Ripley.
Why did Dominik Mysterio choose Liv Morgan over Rhea Ripley?
This week on Monday Night RAW, Dominik Mysterio shed light on his reason for ditching his "Mami," Rhea Ripley. The New Judgment Day member said that Morgan made him feel like a man, unlike The Eradicator. On top of that, she also helped him achieve his first-ever win against Rey Mysterio, something which Ripley never could.
Thus, Dominik Mysterio simply dumped all the blame for his treachery on the head of The Eradicator. In response to this, Mami labeled Dirty Dom a baby and a trash can after the show. This was evident in her social media pages as she changed her X banner to an image of Dom with a pacifier and a teddy bear.
Moreover, she also changed her Instagram profile picture to Dom posing in a trash can costume. The ex-lovers will get a chance to step into the ring against each other on August 31, 2024, at Bash in Berlin. It will be interesting to see if Mysterio has really turned into a real man who can defeat The Terror Twins alongside Liv Morgan.
