Dominik Mysterio reveals his immediate reaction to Eddie Guerrero's death
WWE Superstar Dominik Mysterio has revealed his reaction to Eddie Guerrero's untimely passing in late 2005. Mysterio was an eight-year-old kid back when Guerrero passed away.
Dominik is one of the biggest heels in the business today. His "father" Eddie Guerrero was doing some of the best work of his career as a bad guy on WWE TV during the final months of his life in 2005. Guerrero had an epic feud with Dom's actual father, Rey Mysterio back then, and Dominik was heavily involved in it at one point.
In a new interview with the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast, Dirty Dominik Mysterio was asked to talk about the time wrestling broke his heart. Here's what he said in response:
"'O5 [2005], when... so I was still young at the time, but when Eddie passed. And just seeing the community and... I don't remember showing emotion as a kid unless I was like physically hurt or... never nothing really. I always kept to myself. So I remember when we were watching at home when Eddie had passed and the video package that they played with the Three Doors Down song. And I just remember I started crying as a kid watching this and remembering him, and just what he had done with me and just everything that we had gone through in that angle." [31:39 - 32:39]
Dominik Mysterio's custody was awarded to Rey Mysterio at SummerSlam 2005
Eddie Guerrero tried to take Dominik away from Rey Mysterio back in 2005, claiming to be Dom's real father. The feud culminated in a Ladder match for Dominik's custody at SummerSlam that year.
In the end, Vickie Guerrero helped Rey secure the custody papers and win the match against her husband. An emotional Rey hugged Dominik Mysterio after the win in one of the most heartfelt moments in WWE history.
