Dominik Mysterio says beating 12-time champion proves he can be a singles star in WWE

Dominik Mysterio recently addressed his ability to become a singles competitor in WWE.

The Judgment Day member has recently been on a winning streak on Monday Night RAW. He defeated The New Days' Xavier Woods two weeks in a row. Last night, the 26-year-old defeated another former champion, Apollo Crews, on the Red Brand.

In an interview with 100.7 The Bay, Dominik addressed his victories over Woods, stating that they prove he can "hang in there" as a singles competitor.

"You know, it's really important for people to see that not only is The Judgment Day, like you said, strong as a unit, but, you know, we're also strong individually. And just proving that I can beat Xavier Woods, one of the longest reigning Tag Team Champions, not once but twice is proving that I can hang in there as a singles competitor," he said. [0:46 - 1:08]

Dominik Mysterio was scheduled to wrestle on the independent circuit before joining WWE

In 2019, Dominik Mysterio started appearing on WWE TV alongside his father. About a year later, he made his in-ring debut against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam. He has since become an active main roster competitor in the Stamford-based company.

However, Mysterio recently revealed in an interview with G-Moniy that joining the main roster directly was not his initial plan. Instead, he was scheduled to compete on the independent circuit, hoping to get a WWE tryout.

"Originally, we had plans for me to go independently and had a scheduled debut independently and go through the whole process of doing indie wrestling and hopefully get a tryout with WWE, but I was very blessed," he said. (H/T Wrestle Purist)
