"Don't want to upset you" - WWE name apologizes to 2-time Hall of Famer after making sudden reference to The Rock
The Rock was referenced tonight by a WWE personality, causing him to "apologize" to a two-time Hall of Famer. This was in the special NXT Great American Bash Night 2.
The show opened with Pete Dunne vs. Trick Williams which the former surprisingly won. During the match, a uranage was hit. In case you don't know, the way a uranage is hit is very similar to The Rock's iconic "Rock Bottom" and Booker T's "Book End." As you might know, Booker is a two-time WWE Hall of Famer and works as a commentator on NXT, along with Vic Joseph. The two have had time to develop chemistry together in the booth.
In a seemingly sarcastic apology, Vic Joseph referred to The Uranage as The Rock's Rock Bottom and then Book End, telling Booker T, "I don't want to upset you."
Of course, this was not the first time he did that. We saw a similar sequence happen at NXT Battleground with almost the same line used, meaning it's an inside joke between the two.
Booker T's value to WWE extends beyond the commentary booth. He runs The Reality of Wrestling promotion, which helps streamline talent into NXT.
His Reality of Wrestling promotion now regularly features NXT Level Up Talent. Booker T and Vic Joseph have spent a lot of time developing chemistry. The main roster commentary teams seem to change once or twice a year.
