Drew McIntyre declares dream match for homecoming at WWE Clash at the Castle: Scotland

WWE Clash at the Castle: Scotland will take place inside the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on June 15, 2014. Drew McIntyre is taking time off to nurse his elbow injury, just so there is no way he will miss the upcoming premium live event on his home turf.

During a recent interview with PWInsider, McIntyre was compared to the late wrestling legend Terry Funk in WCW in 1989, owing to how many rivalries he had at the same time. While Funk feuded against the likes of Sting, Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat, and Ric Flair back in the day, The Scottish Warrior has found his adversaries in CM Punk, Seth Rollins, World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest, and Jey Uso, among others.

When asked which wrestler he wished to step in the ring with in front of his home crowd, Drew McIntyre expressed a desire to punish The Straight Edge Superstar at first. However, he clarified that if there is one thing more important than that, it is to win the World Heavyweight Championship in Scotland.

"As much as I'd love to slap Punk around in front of my friends and family in Glasgow—where it's universally one of the roughest places in the world, if I don't finish the job, they will finish it for me, [but] it's about getting that title back," Drew McIntyre declared.

He elaborated on having a lengthy reign with the top prize of WWE while showing up in packed stadiums. According to McIntyre, it has been building for years now, and Clash at the Castle: Scotland is the time and place for the switch to finally happen.

"I know having the title for 5 minutes and 46 seconds at WrestleMania was pretty cool, and it was a legitimate very special moment, and you can tell how much it meant to me. Having that moment with the fans, my wife and my brother. [...] I would love to have that title match if [Priest] is still champion in Scotland, and finally have that moment with the title, and actually keep the title," he added.

Damian Priest told McIntyre on the May 13 episode of Monday Night RAW that he is willing to put his title on the line when the latter is cleared to compete. The report that is now making rounds online is that WWE is eyeing Glasgow, Scotland, as the venue for the clash of the titans.

How did Damian Priest bulldoze his way into Drew McIntyre's long quest in WWE?

Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins capped off their months-long rivalry with a title switch, finally giving The Scottish Warrior a moment in front of fans after his first two reigns with the WWE Championship happened during the pandemic.

However, Damian Priest decided to cash in his Money in the Bank contract after McIntyre had an altercation with CM Punk at ringside after his match, where the latter took out the former with his arm brace. The Archer of Infamy took this opportunity and used his briefcase on the champion, before cashing in for an easy victory.

Priest made a strong argument that he only did what any WWE Superstar in his position would have done and criticized Drew McIntyre for the latter's inability to comprehend the situation.
