Drew McIntyre details personal relationship with The Rock

Drew McIntyre opened up about his personal relationship with WWE legend The Rock. The Final Boss has not been seen since aligning with John Cena at Elimination Chamber 2025.

In an interview with Gorilla Position, Drew McIntyre was asked how he became close with The Rock in real life. The former World Heavyweight Champion noted that The Great One had always been there for him throughout his career.

"He's always been there, ever since I was a kid, in and out of WWE. He always took the time to give me advice and has always looked out for me the entire time," he said. [From 20:47 - 20:58]

Vince McMahon viewed McIntyre as "The Chosen One" back in the day, and McIntyre was asked if the former WWE CEO's opinion of him influenced his friendship with The Rock. McIntyre revealed that it was not the case and that The People's Champion saw potential in him as well.

"I mean, I think it is just more of what he saw himself. And just always believed this guy could be a big star. And thankfully, finally, the pieces kind of came together," he added. [From 21:46 - 21:56]

Drew McIntyre recently sent a message to the WWE Universe as part of a project with The Rock.

The veteran and Under Armour have launched Project Rock, which is a line of athletic apparel designed for people who want to push themselves. Drew McIntyre is collaborating with Project Rock and sent a motivational message to fans last month.

"There was a time when I thought my own career was finished. When I was in a very dark place, and when I thought I couldn't get lower, I got lower, and lost sight of everything I worked so hard for. So I know what it feels like to be in your own way, telling yourself that you are not ready, you are not good enough. But how you handle the inner struggle, that is what defines you," he added.
