Drew McIntyre is headed out of WWE to join another promotion, veteran believes (Exclusive)

A veteran believes that the latest developments in WWE point to Drew McIntyre getting ready to join another promotion. According to him, this would make sense from a storyline perspective as well.

At the Clash at the Castle: Scotland PLE, Drew McIntyre faced a huge loss despite having the upper hand over Damian Priest. With the World Heavyweight Championship on the line, CM Punk interfered by making a cameo in a referee's shirt, leading to Drew losing his chance to become World Champion in front of a Glasgow audience. The Scotsman later took down all of his social media accounts and stated that he was leaving the company. According to veteran journalist Bill Apter, this may be a way to have Drew McIntyre join TNA.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, he stated that the Stamford-based promotion's recent collaboration with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling gave the former the opportunity to be creative with McIntyre's storyline by sending him to friendlier territory.

"Drew McIntyre has taken all his social media down. All of it. [...] I don't know if this is gonna happen but, I am gonna whisper this. He may show up in TNA, and say that he signed a contract with TNA, that he is gone from there. Since they have this reciprocal deal going on with TNA wrestling, what a great spot to do that. Bring him into TNA, friendly territory," said Apter. [7:25 onwards]

Teddy Long believes there is still much to do for Drew McIntyre in WWE

According to Teddy Long, the feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre has plenty of fuel left.

On the same episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, the WWE Hall of Famer agreed with Bill Apter's idea. However, he added his own thoughts and said that after building up the feud between The Scottish Warrior and The Second City Saint for these many months he couldn't just fathom McIntyre walking away. He felt WWE should definitely do something to bring the match to fruition.

"I like that, but I think that they gotta get some money out of him and Punk. Okay? I just don't see them, all this that they have done to get up to here, smashing at the pay-per-view and he quits and all that. I can't see them doing all of this, and him [Drew McIntyre] walking away. And they are not getting anything out of it," said Long. [8:13 onwards]

As of now, it remains to be seen how the rest of the rivalry between Punk and Drew plays out in WWE with the latest developments.
