Drew McIntyre makes history at WWE MITB
Drew McIntyre picked up a major win at the WWE Money in the Bank Premium Live Event. By doing so, he ended up making history.
Ever since turning heel a few months ago, Drew McIntyre has been on a roll. He has been dominant in the ring, and his dominance led him to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL. However, his decision to gloat in front of CM Punk led to the latter attacking him. This allowed Damian Priest to cash in his Money in the Bank contract on him and pick up the win.
Drew did get his rematch against Priest a few weeks later, but this time again, Punk interfered, allowing Priest to retain his title. As a result, The Scottish Warrior assaulted The Straight Edge Superstar backstage. McIntyre then qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder match.
The men's Money in the Bank ladder was filled with plenty of huge spots. During the match, Andrade hit a Spanish fly on Carmelo Hayes onto the ladder. Chad Gable also put on an impressive performance and came close to winning before Jey Uso pushed the ladder from underneath him. Gable was left dangling above the ring before he crashed to the mat. Jey then speared.
Jey Uso then came close to grabbing the briefcase, but Drew threw a ladder at him and followed it with the Claymore kick. McIntyre then climbed up the ladder and grabbed the briefcase, making him the first Scottish star to win the MITB briefcase.
It will be interesting to see whether Drew McIntyre will cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase tonight before the show ends.
