Drew McIntyre names surprising WWE legend who mentored him during his initial years in the company

Drew McIntyre mentioned a surprising WWE legend who once mentored him during his initial days in the company. Now, he is pairing up with this former superstar once again.

Batista quickly shot to fame in the mid-2000s due to his time with Evolution. After the group's breakup, The Animal didn't take long to become one of the best world champions in the company. During this time, he feuded with several top names in the Stamford-based promotion, including The Undertaker and John Cena.

While Batista was a well-established star, Drew McIntyre was still finding himself in WWE. Despite being named, "The Chosen One" by Vince McMahon, he was far from reaching his full potential at that point.

During a recent Q&A session on Reddit, Drew was asked about how The Animal was off-screen. The Scot answered the question by saying that the former world champion was an introvert.

He also recalled how The Animal helped him navigate through WWE during his younger days. It's fitting that McIntyre will be making his film debut alongside the 55-year-old.

"Yeah he is! Naturally introverted, much like myself, in fact a lot of us wrestlers are. When I first met him I thought he didn’t like me because he was so quiet, but then he started mentoring me when I was a youngster but it was more than that he really kept an eye out of me and clued me up on how to navigate the WWE. Now he’s doing the same as I step into this new world. All round great lad," he said.

During a recent edition of Mone Mag, Mercedes Mone spoke about McIntyre's debut stating that she showed up at the premiere to show her support for her friend.

"So, when I got the invite for the premiere of The Killer’s Game starring my friend, Drew McIntyre, you bet I was gonna be there to support. [...] I hope this opportunity elevates Drew to additional outside opportunities. Regardless, he is starring in a big movie, and for that he should be so proud," she said.
