Drew McIntyre posts rare personal update; finds way to mock CM Punk
Drew McIntyre has taken to social media to share a rare personal update ahead of tomorrow night's edition of WWE RAW in Boston, MA. The veteran brutally attacked CM Punk earlier this month on SmackDown and will be in action tomorrow night on the red brand.
The Scottish Warrior will be facing Sheamus and Ilja Dragunov in a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match on tomorrow night's show. McIntyre has vowed to win the MITB contract on July 6 and cash in on the same night to become the World Heavyweight Champion.
Ahead of WWE RAW, McIntyre took to his Instagram to share a picture with his wife and cat. In the image, McIntyre is wearing the bracelet he stole from Punk with his wife, former WWE Superstar AJ Lee, and his dog Larry's name on it.
"One big happy family 🖤," he wrote.
CM Punk cost McIntyre his chance to win the World Heavyweight Championship at Clash at the Castle: Scotland. The Scottish Warrior had the match won after hitting the Claymore but the referee was temporarily out of commission. Punk rushed to the ring in a referee's shirt but refused to count to three. The Archer of Infamy capitalized on the distraction and defeated McIntyre to retain the title at the premium live event on June 15.
Vince Russo claimed WWE weakened Drew McIntyre by having him pretend to quit the company
Wrestling legend Vince Russo believes the promotion made Drew McIntyre look weak by having him claim to quit the company following WWE Clash at the Castle: Scotland.
McIntyre appeared on the RAW following the premium live event and said he was quitting the company. However, it was a trap to get to CM Punk on the next episode of SmackDown and he sent the former AEW Champion home in an ambulance.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo show, the veteran claimed he never believed Drew McIntyre would quit due to an issue with Punk and the storyline has only weakened the 39-year-old.
"First of all, you always hear me talking about staying true to your character. Now I'm going to give them [WWE] the benefit of the doubt that his [Drew McIntyre's] wife is sick, and he requested some time off. But here's the problem with that: Number one, the type of character you built in Drew, I don't believe for a second that this guy will take his ball and go home. That's hurting Drew. That's weakening Drew," claimed Russo. [6:03 - 6:48]

CM Punk still has not returned to the ring since suffering from a torn triceps during the Men's Royal Rumble Match, earlier this year. Only time will tell when the 45-year-old will be cleared to return to in-ring action.
