Drew McIntyre reveals recent WWE loss "really stung" him: "That was a tough one"

The Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre has arguably been at his career best in the past few months. From winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL to his exciting feud with CM Punk lately, the Scotsman has been phenomenal with his work in and out of the ring.

Drew McIntyre visited his home country this year, with WWE hosting the Clash at the Castle PLE in the OVO Hydro in Scotland. The 39-year-old challenged Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at the PLE, but couldn't win the match, after CM Punk cost the Scotsman the match.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, McIntyre addressed taking a loss in his home country and stated that it was a tough one to digest.

"That was a tough one. Really, really tough one. The same time, if I win, then I'm right. Sometimes it's okay to be right. Yeah, that one really stung," said McIntyre. [23:24 onwards]

Drew McIntyre forced CM Punk to leave RAW in an ambulance

The Drew McIntyre-CM Punk saga began right from the moment the latter returned to WWE. Both men have been trying to take each other down for months, and have had a couple of matches as well.

With the scores even at the moment, the Best the World tried to move on from McIntyre. But the latter unleashed a brutal attack on Punk during this week's episode of WWE RAW. The attack was so vicious and relentless that Punk had to be carried away from ringside on a stretcher. Later, while he was being boarded on an ambulance, McIntyre attacked The Second City Saint again.

It's clear that the rivalry between both men isn't over yet. At least one more match in this exciting feud is bound to happen. However, WWE might put a full stop to this dynamic saga following a trilogy. Fans will have to wait and see what happens when Punk returns after the brutal assault from McIntyre.
