Drew McIntyre's character shift draws severe criticism; wrestling veteran slams WWE for confusion (Exclusive)

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo discussed Drew McIntyre's opening promo on RAW. The former WWE Champion shared an emotional message with the fans this week.

The Scottish Warrior kicked off RAW this week. He spoke about losing a close family member since Hell in A Cell. He mentioned that no one from the WWE roster called or asked how he was doing. He also targeted the fans for turning on him and siding with CM Punk instead. He was then interrupted by Sami Zayn.

This week on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Russo mentioned that Drew McIntyre seemed like the babyface in the situation. He was confused with the segment and felt McIntyre should have gotten sympathy from the fans after this week's promo.

"He absolutely was (a babyface). Drew was talking about somebody very close to me died and I got slapped across the face with a dose of reality." [From 10:02 onwards]

The confrontation at the start of the show led to a matchup between Zayn and Drew McIntyre in the main event.

Drew finished off his opponent with the Claymore and initiated a post-match beatdown on Zayn. Jey Uso rushed to the rescue but the Bloodline 2.0 showed up and laid him and Sami out.
