Drew McIntyre should steal CM Punk's dog Larry, WWE veteran says (Exclusive)
CM Punk's dog, Larry, has been mentioned many times on television since The Best in the World returned to WWE in November 2023. Vince Russo, WWE's former head writer, recently revealed how he would incorporate Larry into a storyline if he still worked for the company.
Punk has not wrestled since January 27 due to the torn triceps injury he suffered in his WWE return match in the Royal Rumble. On June 21, Drew McIntyre attacked his rival on SmackDown and stole a bracelet containing the names of Punk's wife, AJ Lee, and dog, Larry.
Russo said on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws that he would book McIntyre to kidnap Punk's dog:
"Bro, I swear to God, if I'm writing that television, Drew's kidnapping the dog. He's holding the dog hostage. He's feeding the dog bad food like ice cream and all kinds. Bro, I am doing that in a heartbeat. Tomorrow, I am doing that, bro." [11:13 – 11:33]
Russo was speaking to host Dr. Chris Featherstone and NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion EC3. The latter liked Russo's idea and gave his own spin on how a storyline with CM Punk's dog could progress:
"I'd put him [Drew McIntyre] on the beach with the dog, using the dog to pick up girls, taking him to the dog park, going to dog bars," EC3 said. "Like, totally exploiting the dog for his own personal benefit." [11:37 – 11:49]

Vince Russo's alternative CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre feud idea
AJ Lee has not appeared in WWE since suddenly retiring from in-ring competition in 2015. Fans often speculate whether the three-time Divas Champion could join her husband in returning to the company.
Vince Russo believes the ongoing feud between CM Punk and McIntyre would benefit from AJ Lee's inclusion:
"Well, bro, I think for me the most important thing is you got a new toy if you wanna really include that in the Drew McIntyre feud. You know what I'm saying? That's where I think because, bro, they've done a lot with McIntyre and Punk. If you wanna add a new wrinkle to that, that's definitely the way to go." [10:15 – 10:36]
AJ Lee became an author and screenwriter after leaving WWE. She has not wrestled since teaming up with Naomi and Paige to defeat Natalya and The Bella Twins on RAW on March 30, 2015.
